| 1934 German Grand Prix - this race marked the first Grand Prix victory for Auto Union. After a fantastic duel with Caracciola in his Mercedes Hans Stuck took the honours 2 minutes ahead of another Mercedes driver Louis Fagioli. Not without incident with four laps to go Stuck found that according to the gauge water temperature was at boiling point! So with each lap, as he passed the pits, he franticly gestured only to be ordered to continue by the pit crew. Stuck did the last laps expecting to hear the engine blow any second. After the race the pit crew explained to an astonished Stuck that they knew the gauge had been disconnected and was showing the engine temperature instead! GP003 Represents Hans Stuck’s winning Auto Union Type ‘A’ in raw racing form without the streamlining of the AVUS car as raced for most of 1934 season including at this the most demanding of circuits - the Nurburgring.
